Mid Career Investigator Network: MCI Member

 

Mid-Career Investigators (MCIs)

The ISHR has recently appointed an international committee to represent interests and activities of the MCIs (8-15 years post terminal degree and those who have not yet reached the rank of Full Professor). The Committee is composed of 2 members from each section:

-       Sarah Franklin and Rajasekaran Namakkal-Soorappan (North American Section),

-       Alejandro Orlowski and Zully Pedrozo (Latin American Section),

-       Davor Pavlovic and Nina Kaludercic (European Section),

-       Uma Nahar Saikia and Sivasubramanianarah Ramakrishnan (Indian Section),

-       Xue-Yan Jiang and Han Xiao (Chinese Section),

-       Kenji Onoue and Mikito Takefuji (Japanese Section),

-       Jeff Erickson and James Bell (Australian Section).

The Committee organized activities at the 2019 ISHR World Congress in Beijing.

An MCI Network panel and discussion was  held at the ISHR World Congress in Beijing on Tue June 4th at 6.30 pm. Here we presented the current aims and mission of the the newly setup group, discussed planned activities and held a discussion on how best to organise the MCI and what the members would like to get from it. The panel was followed by the MCI social event at 7.30 pm where drinks and snack were provided.A report on Congress MCI activities will be published in the fall issue of the ISHR newsletter, Heart News & Views (available on this website under Resources>Heart News & Views).

Nina KALUDERCIC wrote on the Mid Career Investigator Network: MCI Member wall: Dear Colleagues, The MCI international committee has been planning and organizing the MCI network panel and discussion event to be held at the ISHR World Congress in Beijing on Tuesday June 4th at 6.30 pm. The event is aimed at investigators 8-15 years post terminal degree and/or those who have not yet reached the rank of Full Professor. If this is your career stage, please join us to meet your colleagues, to network and discuss the needs and opportunities for the MCIs. We want your input, feel free to suggest any activity you feel might be useful for our community! The Discussion Panel will be followed by the MCI social event at 7.30 pm. Brainstorm with MCI’s on what would be most beneficial • Organize workshops on time management, funding, balancing demands, career advancement, tenure review process • Ask the attendees for their needs and opinions See you in Beijing!
